Paisano’s Charitable Foundation Scholarship
The first Paisano’s opened in the Shoppes at Fair Lakes in Fairfax, VA in June of 1997. Since then, they have expanded to 25 stores by adding multiple company-owned locations as well as franchises. Paisano’s management team has decades of experience in food service and has grown Paisano’s into one of the premier food establishments in Northern Virginia. The owner and founder of Paisano’s, Fouad Qreitem, heads multiple projects every year to fundraise and is a generous donor to important causes. Paisano’s Pizza is very active in the local communities that have embraced the company over the years, helping charities such as: The Police Unity Tour, Bite Me Cancer, Food For Others, Our Neighbors Child, Catholic Charities, and many more. Paisano’s strongly believes that they can attribute much of their success to their loyal community support over the years. As a result, they want to share that success with our local community.
Real life work experiences can lead to real life skills. Mercedes Gomez realized this through her many hours of restaurant work over the years. In her essay, Mercedes explained that “I had to learn how to work in a fast paced environment, to multitask, and to develop my interpersonal skills.” Working under the pressures of time constraints, and attempting to provide excellent service to dining customers taught Mercedes the art of patience. She learned to anticipate the customer’s needs, to handle difficult situations, and to remain humble. She also commented that working as a team with her co-workers is a valuable skill she acquired. Mercedes plans to pursue computer and business courses at Northern Virginia Community College with the available scholarship funds. Her work experience acquired skills will help her be to be successful in college and beyond.
